Casey Hosking

Casey is a psychologist and research assistant with the Intergenerational Health Group at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. She is a Stronger Futures CRE scholar and coordinates the Working Out Dads Randomised Control Trial within the Resilience and Prevention Stream. Casey's past research has used data from another CRE project, the Mothers' and Young People's study, to understand the association between maternal experiences of partnered violence, mental health, parenting practices, and outcomes for children. Casey has also previously explored the impact of prolonged exposure to sexual assault narratives on trauma responses in therapists.

Casey is excited about the CRE's facilitation of multidisciplinary, multi-organisation, and lived-experience collaboration and dissemination. She hopes that the CRE will provide deeper insights into the factors contributing to the intergenerational transmission of trauma, thus promoting prevention and intervention efforts that protect, support, and emotionally nourish children and families.

Casey has been working, studying, and volunteering in various mental health related roles for over 10 years. She brings to the CRE a diverse understanding developed from rich interactions with people across the lifespan facing a range of concerns including substance dependency, terminal or chronic illness, and socio-economic disadvantage.

Casey lives, works, and plays on Wurundjeri Country.

She is kept strong and resilient through her love for cooking and eating good food, time spent exploring and admiring bushland, gardens, and architecture, and connection with family and friends.
