Helen Elizabeth Kennedy

Helen is a PhD student and CRE scholar with the Intergenerational Health Group at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. Her PHD is exploring what is working and not working to improve the social and emotional well-being of Aboriginal children in Victorian out of home care.

Helen is excited about CRE's opportunities to strengthen meaningful partnerships and collaboration, particularly in the area of Aboriginal health and well-being and is optimistic about the CRE continuing to generate evidence to prevent and promote healing and recovery from intergenerational trauma for parents and children.

Helen is a proud descendant of the Trawlwoolway and Plairmairrener clans from North East Tasmania. She has over 25 years experience working at senior levels in government including supporting new policy frameworks to improve Aboriginal social and emotional well-being as well as practice-based experience in in service delivery, having managed the Aboriginal specialist 'VAHS Family Counselling Services for seven years leading to a range of innovative new service models and research initiatives.

Helen lives and works on Wurrundjeri Country. She enjoys spending time connecting with her large extended family and friends as well as long walks around the Reservoir Lake and recreational reading.
