Monique Seymour

Dr Monique Seymour is psychologist and postdoctoral researcher with the Intergenerational Health Group at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. She is a Stronger Futures CRE Scholar and coordinates the Working Out Dads Randomised Control Trial within the Resilience and Prevention Stream. Monique's research focuses on promoting the health and wellbeing of parents, children and families exposed to adverse social contexts, with a particular interest in childhood disability, fathers, and the early parenting period.

Monique is excited about the CRE's opportunities to work collaboratively and share knowledge between researchers, partner organisations and people with lived experience. She hopes that the CRE achieves a deeper understanding of how to support the mental health needs of vulnerable parents, children, and families.

Monique has over 7 years of experience working with children, parents and families experiencing mental health difficulties and social adversity, within both clinical and research settings. She is committed to improving the accessibility to mental health support for vulnerable populations.

Monique lives and works on Wurundjeri Country.

Spending time with her young family, forest walks, connecting with friends, and watching the black cockatoos and parrots in her garden are some of the things that keep Monique strong and resilient.
