Rebecca Giallo

I am a researcher in the Intergenerational Health Group at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI), and in the School of Psychology and Centre for Social and Emotional Early Development at Deakin University.

As an investigator of the Stronger Futures CRE, I hope that it creates a stimulating, vibrant and thriving hub of research and dissemination activity, bringing together a diverse community of researchers, community partners and early career scholars to share ideas, learn from each other, and ultimately promote the health of children and families.

I have over 15 years' experience leading policy and clinically relevant research to better understand how to promote the health of children and families experiencing adversity and inequality.  My research is particularly focused on how to engage and promote the mental health of fathers in the early years of parenting.

To the CRE, I bring passion for, and commitment to, working with children and families in the critical early years. I also bring expertise in life course biostatistics, and experience in mentoring early career scholars.

I live, work and play on Wurrundjeri country.

Some of the things that keep me strong and resilient are holidays with my family, walking my two energetic dogs, and eating Sicilian treats!
