Rowena Coe

Rowena is a midwife, graphic designer, and a research assistant working within the Intergenerational Health group, at MCRI. She is dedicated to advocating for equitable and culturally safe care for all.

Rowena recently completed a photovoice study called Refocus, exploring what culturally safe pregnancy care is to Karen women of refugee background in Victoria, Australia. The study has been successfully completed, with participants’ photos and stories showcased in a travelling exhibition across Victoria.

In addition to her professional contributions, Rowena brings her love for visual communication to the Stronger Futures CRE. Collaborating with her fellow creative colleagues, Rowena aims to create a sense of safety, curiosity, respect, and fun to the CRE.

Rowena lives and works on Wurundjeri Country. Family dinners, animals, dawn walks, the sea, laughing, and stationery are some things that keep Rowena strong.
